About ten years or so ago, I wrote a book called Paris is Melting. It was one of those projects that was growing in the back of my head as something I just wanted to do. There was no call for it, I couldn’t get anyone interested in publishing it, but it was something I wanted to write. Heck, it was something I’d like to read.
Basically, it’s set in a what if? world where future tech was introduced during WWI. How? You may ask. It’s in the book! This tech changed the world in a Steampunky kind of way (sci-fi in a past time) but the tech is a bit flashier than gears and clockwork machines. It’s more retro sci-fi along the lines of Flash Gordon. It’s set in one of my favorite eras where gangsters and bank robbers drove around with Tommy guns wearing pinstripe suits. Is this a real depiction of crime in the 30’s? Nope. But Tommy guns are cool and it’s my world so this is how I’m writing it.
There are Private Eye elements, crime elements and sci-fi thrown together into escapist adventure along the lines of a certain legendary archaeologist. Yes, it’s the glorious Indiana Jones + Flash Gordon + The Untouchables combo platter!! It’s being re-released now with a spiffy new cover and it’s available on Amazon.
