Went to a convention this weekend. It was a lot of fun and kind of a surprise because I didn’t know it was happening until about 2 weeks ago! I missed it last year and have even been looking for details for this year’s event, but couldn’t find any. That was a while ago and this is only the second year for the con, so it kinda slipped under my radar.
I’m so glad I went! It was a great little con and a nice way to get my feet wet in the whole convention pool again. Convention pool?? Eh, I was kind of stuck after I said “getting my feet wet” and just ran with it. I give new meaning to the term “Introvert” so I do have to amp up again to get back into convention shape since I intend on attending a lot more to promote Purveyor of Miracles and also just to get out in the world again.
One of the highlights for me at Hurricon was meeting fellow author Charles Millhouse. He’s a great guy who writes several different series that are all proudly under the Pulp banner. I love pulp and sincerely want it to be brought back in a big way. The fact that there are still folks out there keeping pulp alive makes me happy. Also, it’s good to know I’m not the only one. I’d like to see if I can get to Sci-Fi Valley Con in October. That’s being held in Altoona, PA. Never been to Altoona. I know for certain I’ll be at GalaxyCon in December, which is being held in Columbus, OH. Hope to see some of you there as well. I’ll have a table selling my books so stop by to get some signed copies! That’s a ways off, though. I’ll remind you about it later.
